BIONIC PLUCKS AND MALLETS – LITE EDITION by RIOT AUDIO[Kontakt] 0 (0)

INTRODUCTION

Bionic is a “transient splicing engine”, i.e. it is designed to give detailed control over a range of parameters needed to mix and match a number of different initial transients to another set of tails/longer sounds.

SOUND DESIGN POSSIBILITIES

The result are

  1. Hybrid recreations of classic sounds with mostly organic attacks (taps, mallets, plucks, brush) and a mix of organic and synth/pure sine tails.
  2. Creative, inventive sounds that push the combinations of previously unrelated sounds into new territory

Some of the “bionic” sounds included in this initial version of the product (Lite):

  • Replicas of classic house organ sounds
  • Celesta, Music Box, Xylophone
  • A range of bass sounds including a “reconstructed” pizzicato upright bass

There are four layers, accessible on page 1: two transient layers, and two tail layers. Levels can be adjusted as balance between each of the tail/transient layers respectively, and globally between transients and tails. Each layer contains sample offset and tuning controls as well as a “humanize” function which introduces subtle to not-so-subtle random pitch variations (especially helpful for making non-tonal transients more realistic).

The effects page includes filters, EQ, saturation and delay + reverb controls.

FEATURES

  • 4 layers of sound: 2 transient layers and 2 tail layers
  • Extensive sound sculpting controls, including crossover fade (between transient and tail samples), crossover point, tail envelope, transient attack curve (shape)
  • Vibrato, Velocity Sensitivity (Volume, Low Pass and High Pass) and Humanize Controls for in-depth realism
  • 20 Presets: Tap Celesta, Tap Bell, Mr Android Pluck, Plastic Pizzicato Bass, Breathy Stab, Expansive Xylophone, Rhodesian Scholar, House Organ, Vibey House Organ, Steel Drum Baby, Music Box, Starlight Swoosh, A Gong or Two, Plucky Squelchy Bass, White Noise Organ Stab, Pillow Harp, Gamelan, Hammond Bass, Electric Bass, Heavy Tines.
  • Replika Analog Style delay
  • Based on Riot Audio’s proprietary BIONIC TRANSIENT SPLICING ENGINE
  • Total size of sampled content: 0.36 GB
  • Requires Native Instruments Kontakt 6.4.2 (Full Version)

FREE KONTAKT THE TOTAL COMPOSURE ORCHESTRA by SampleScience 0 (0)

The Total Composure Orchestra (TCO) is a full orchestral sample library created using only samples that are in the public domain. Total Composure is the first to offer such a library exclusively for the Kontakt format; making use of Kontakt’s scripting capabilities to greatly enhance the playability, realism, and functionality of these public domain samples.
The scripting aims to provide similar functionality across the different instrument groups, whatever the instrument; while more specific settings play to the strength of each instrument.
Most of the instruments only contain one set of samples per articulation, and some only have one recorded dynamic layer – this is one of the many limitations we have found with using public domain samples. We have overcome these issues using a variety of physical modeling techniques that enhance the audio material. Using dynamic filters and intelligent repetition scripting we have removed the limitation of single dynamic recordings and solitary sample sets.
Although we have put a lot of work into this product it is important to remember that at its core are the samples provided free of charge by a small number of people. Total Composure has gathered these samples from various locations and brought them all to one place where they can be used together.

Features:

  • 31 Kontakt instruments
  • 1 583 samples
  • Pdf User Guide

Toy Piano by igorski[Kontakt] 0 (0)

Kontakt Instrument

Aimed at those who seek to inject some spiky toy piano sounds into their compositions.

The timbre of the instrument can be best described as “thin” or “shrill” (as opposed to toy pianos with a more metallic resonance), but the instrument is tuned to work within the context of other instruments in order to provide less jarring clashes. The sound has been recorded completely dry, so added ambiance is under your control in post processing.

The piano spans a 1.5 octave range and supports multiple velocities for a larger range of playing dynamics. Another feature consists of the playback of randomized mechanical sounds upon release of the notes.

Recorded at 44.1 kHz.

Remote Violin (nano) by Alejandro Magaña Martinez[Kontakt] 0 (0)

Introducing a brand new Kontakt instrument: Remote Violin nano!

While this is not the first string instrument Acousmatic Sounds has built, it is the first to be released to the public.

The Remote Violin nano is cozy, screechy and oddly intimate. You will find four different sliders and two knobs, all CC assignable, that control the direct audio (recorded by a regular iPhone), two “interference” signals and a reverb created by a less than ideal reverb pedal!

Depending on where the Remote Violin nano will sit in your mix, the high end can be harsh at times, nothing that a low pass filter cannot fix. However, if you are after a more lo-fi feel, you can let the instrument’s natural top end shine through.

Two panning knobs give you extra control over this instrument, making it easier ad more interesting to create string textures and pads.
