Seit 18 Jahren lebe ich in Maintal bei Frankfurt. Wer jetzt fragt „welches Frankfurt?“, den lachen wir aber mal alle aus, ODER? Nee, MAIN! Mit 18 Jahren ist der Maintaler Persönlichkeitsanteil von mir volljährig. Hat das Aufenthaltsbestimmungsrecht über mich. Und sagt: Mir bleibe hier wohne (falls die Frau einverstanden ist). Aber was sagt eigentlich Maintal dazu?

Vorneweg: Mit so einem muss ich Hochdeutsch sprechen. Sonst versteht der mich nicht. Insofern verstell ich mich von vorneherein, wenn ich mit so einem red. Der kommt hier an, hat vorher – jetzt verrat ich euch was – in Offenbach gewohnt, und denkt, er könnte hier dazugehören. Und hat noch gar nicht verraten: Welches Maintal? Vier Stück gibts: Hochstadt, Dörnigheim, Wachenbuchen, Bischofsheim. Das Letzte, brummt er. Na da gehts gleich weiter: Welches Bischofsheim? Rechts oder links vom Kreuzstein? Proletariat oder Kleinbürgertum? Ja, bei uns gibts die noch: Klassen. Natürlich gibt es die überall noch, aber bei uns wohnen zwei davon im selben Ort, im selben Ortsteil sogar. Wo also, der Herr? Aha, links vom Kreuzstein. Ja, wo ist denn dann Ihr Vorgarten? Hier fängt der Mensch beim Vorgartentor an und geht exakt bis zum SUV-Auspuff. Wie, Sie haben kein SUV? Moment mal, kein Auto? Aber Messer und Gabel haben Sie schon mal gesehen? Sie fahren Fahrrad, alles klar. Dann nehmen Sie sich bestimmt immer Ihre Vorfahrt und fragen gar nicht, wie der Autofahrer das ahnen soll. Sechs oder sieben Maintaler haben schon versucht ihn totzufahren. Zwei oder drei haben sich dafür entschuldigt, also bitte. Wie soll aus so einem ein Maintaler werden? Auf dem Bischofsheimer Friedhof vielleicht. Der wird demnächst erweitert, hat es den Anschein. Weil neben dem der Wald abgeholzt wurde. Wie ein Wald sieht übrigens der ganze Maintaler Wald nicht mehr aus. Da radelt der Mann hastig durch bis Enkheim, dort stehen noch Bäume. Dort ist er in Frankfurt, wo er hingehört. Wo er beinahe wohnt, wenn er mit dem Frankfurter Kulturamt spricht. „Einen Kilometer vor der Frankfurter Stadtgrenze“ lebe er, erzählt er denen. Zur „LiteraturSzene Hanau“ gehört er aber auch, neuerdings, im Internet. Also was jetzt? Hic Rhodus, hic salta! In Berlin, wo er ursprünglich herkommt, seien das, was hier Städte sind, Stadtteile, meint er. Das sei doch nicht so wichtig. Falsch. Du bist nicht wichtig. Hier ist man froh, dass man nicht anderswo lebt. Hier ist man stolz, von hier zu sein. Für die Frankfurter Eintracht darf man hier sein, ja, aber nur mit Friedhelm Funkel als Trainer. Der Klassenerhalt als Lebensaufgabe. Und wenn Bayern oder Dortmund spielen, bitte das „Schwarz weiß wie Schnee“ nur flüstern.

Ihm gefalle es hier. Er wolle nirgendwo anders wohnen.

Na also, geht doch. Vielleicht wird am Ende ja noch ein Mensch draus. Aber jetzt erst mal sechs Stunden vors Hochstädter Rathaus gestellt – bei Sonne, Regen, Hagel egal – und auf eine städtische Dienstleistung gewartet. Nach sechs Stunden dann ein Termin für nächste Woche und eine Woche auf die eventuelle Dienstleistung gefreut. Jawohl, so erwartet es die Stadt von ihren Bürgern. Wie, das gibts in ganz Deutschland nicht noch mal. Gratulation. Der Groschen fällt. So langsam kapiert es der Mann. (Am 26.9. ist übrigens Bürgermeisterin-Abwahl.)

ROUTING MATRIX is essential. No sound will be heard unless some source is routed to one of the outputs.

By default, OSC 3 FREQ is in low range (LFO). Routing KEY TRACKING to OSC 3 FREQ will make OSC 3 pitch range similar to the other two OSCs.

ENVELOOP behaves differently than a standard synth envelope. In LOOP mode, it will play constantly regardless a key is pressed or not. NOTE ON signal retrigs the ENVELOOP. To turn the LOOP OFF set the ENVELOOP REST control to maximum, the ENVELOOP will then behave more like a standard synth envelope.

REVERB FEEDBACK modification can be accessed from PANEL B.

What is a Zebralette?

-ette: an English suffix indicating a diminutive form
Zebralette is an introduction to Zebra2’s powerful oscillators. Zebra2 can seem overwhelming at first glance, so we stripped it down to a single oscillator plus a few other features and created Zebralette, the little Zebra. Once you master Zebralette you can move up to Zebra2 with confidence. And your presets can come with you, as Zebralette presets can be opened in Zebra2.

But more than a teaching tool, Zebralette is an incredible sounding synth in its own right. Surrounding Zebra’s spectral oscillator with a few core modulation options and effects make Zebralette highly capable. With unsion options (think supersaw, but Zebralette is not limited to saw waves, so we refer to it as superwave), 16 voice polyphony and two different envelopes, you have everything needed to create some marvellously complex sounds.

Diminutive? Yes. Powerful? Yes.

Zebra oscillator
One oscillator may not seem like enough for a synthesizer, but Zebra2 oscillators are rather powerful and clever.

It resembles many other oscillators you may have used. You can choose a waveset from the included library, or use the waveform editor to draw your own shapes. Here is where things start to get interesting: The Waveform Editor manages up to 16 different waves and lets you rearrange, duplicate and morph between individual waves. Use one of modulation sources and the WaveWarp control to scan through the 16 waves and create unusual, dynamic sounds.

There are four drawing modes: GeoMorph, SpectroMorph, GeoBlend, SpectroBlend, each offering a different approach to creating and manipulating waveforms.

Using the two Geo modes you draw the waveform shape using up to 32 points, while the Spectro modes let you create the harmonic spectrum over 128 columns. When using WaveWarp to scan through the waveset, Morph alters the waveform, whereas Blend blends (crossfades) between adjacent waves.
