Arido is an additive synthesizer with a simple FM feature and a subtractive filter.
It includes a polyphonic driver to generate variety of timbres. That is, a distorter that works on each note separately. This synth allows make sounds like ambient, bass, pads, organs, distorted, nature, emulations, etc.
It brings on-panel help, MIDI Learn and pedal switch functions.

  • 3 main oscillators
  • each main oscillator supports 6  waveforms: sine, saw, triangle, pulse, saw7, cry
  • the waveform “saw7″ is a supersaw with 7 detunable sub oscillators
  • the waveform “cry” is an experimental waveform, it is built up with several hardsynced saws
  • main oscillator 2 has an additional unisono mode, when it is enabled, the whole oscillator triples its voice and the voices can be detuned from each other
  • the oscillators can be chained (osc1 to osc2 and osc2 to osc3) using FM, PM and sync, these 3 options can also be used at the same time
  • seperate noise oscillator
  • 3 LFOs, each supports 5 waveforms: sine, saw, triangle, pulse, sample and hold
  • the LFOs can be synchronized to the host tempo or run free at a specific frequency
  • each LFO can control multiple parameters of each OSC, you can even assign several LFOs to the same parameter
  • LFO1 can control the filter cutoff
  • 2 Envelope generators (Mod & Amp) with variable shapes
  • the modulation envelope can control multiple parameters of each OSC, and it can also be mixed with the LFOs. Additionally it can control the filter cutoff
  • 3 types of filters: lowpass, highpass and bandpass
  • each filter type can be set to 6dB, 12dB, 18dB and 24dB steepness
  • 9 effects, and they can be used at the same time: gater, chorus, phaser, flanger, distortion, delay, reverb, equalizer, stereo-effects
  • each of the unused parts of the synth is shown with less contrast, so you can focus on the active parts
  • the output of the synth can be clipped to avoid overdriving noise. The clipping is done with a soft limiter, that can be used to compress the whole synth sound (just enable clip and turn up the main volume)

Of course you’ll also find the standard features that every synth supports, but I don’t want to list them here, that’s just too much :)

Right now there are only a few presets, I’m not good in programming this and I don’t want to waste my time with stuff, that every musician can do. Hopefully someone else makes a nice bank and I can include it in an update, but right now I haven’t this person ;)

Alfred Statler verabschiedet sich präsidentiell vom schlechten Gewissen.

In unserer Familie ist es Tradition, die Weihnachtsansprachen anzuschauen. Normalerweise bleibt bei mir absolut nichts hängen. Bei meiner Mutter, die meist das gemeinsame Anschauen der Aufzeichnung durchsetzt, geht es wohl auch eher um das Zusammensein und die weihnachtliche Stimmung und nicht um die Inhalte, insofern hat sie wahrscheinlich die Reden besser verstanden als die, die versuchen, aus den Worten irgendwelche Informationen zu gewinnen.

Dieses Jahr war es allerdings alles etwas anders. Ich erwische mich immer wieder dabei, dass ich über die Rede nachdenke und ich stelle mir immer wieder eine Frage:

Darf ich das auch?

Ich hatte bislang nämlich etwas schlechtes Gewissen, weil ich, obwohl es der TÜV angemahnt hat, die Bremsen an meinem Auto nicht gewechselt habe, dann habe ich auch noch die Sommerreifen drauf. Aber jetzt denke ich, nicht so schlimm.

Wenn ich beispielsweise im Schnee ins Rutschen geraten sollte und dann einigermaßen wuchtig die Kurve verfehle, durch ein paar parkende Autos durchknalle und ein Stück hinter dem Gartenzaun im Rosenbeet von Frau Maier lande, könnte ich dann locker aus dem Auto aussteigen und staatsmännisch erklären:

„Liebe Bürgerinnen und Bürger, was führ eine Fahrt! Dieser Unfall hat uns daran erinnert, wie zerbrechlich das ist, was wir ‚Abendruhe‘ nennen.“

Mein Nachbar Krause würde sich von dieser Weisheit erst nicht beruhigen lassen. Tränen würden ihm in die Augen steigen, wenn er den Schaden an seinem geliebten Auto sähe. „Sie Schwein“, würde er rufen und mich übel beschimpfen, sofort würde aber seine Frau versuchen, ihn zu beruhigen. „Alfred“ würde sie sagen, „beruhige dich“.

Das wäre mein Einsatz, ich ginge zu den beiden hin, nähme sie in den Arm und erklärte:

„Wir haben lange nicht so sehr gespürt, wie wichtig uns Menschen sind, wie sehr wir auf andere angewiesen sind: auf ihre Anwesenheit, ihre Zuneigung, auf das Gespräch mit ihnen. Das ist gut zu wissen.“

Frau Maier, deren Gartentor und Rosen ich bei meinem gescheiterten Manöver mitgenommen hätte, und die kreideweiß vor mir stünde, würde ich sanft einen Besen in die Hand legen und erklären:

„Unser Land ist ein starkes Land, weil so viele Menschen für andere da sind und in der Krise über sich hinauswachsen.“

Herr Krause wäre schon weniger wütend. Das gute Zureden seiner Frau und natürlich meine Worte hätten sehr geholfen, den Blick auf das Wesentliche zu lenken. Er würde sich den Schaden an seinem Auto genauer anschauen und sich dann aber doch fragen, wie er nun zur Arbeit kommen solle.

Auch hier wüsste ich eine Antwort:

„Uns allen haben die Einschränkungen, die wir uns auferlegen mussten, zugesetzt. Dennoch: Vergessen wir bitte neben den vielen dunklen die hellen Seiten dieses Vorfalls nicht. Gerade in diesen Tagen erleben wir doch: Der Unfall treibt uns nicht auseinander. Im Gegenteil, er lässt uns zusammenrücken. Unser Land ist ein starkes Land, weil so viele Menschen für andere da sind und in der Krise über sich hinauswachsen.“

Jetzt würde Herr Krause stolz nicken.

Wenn dann die Polizei käme, fände sie eine Szene von Freundschaft und Solidarität vor. Herr und Frau Krause hielten sich gegenseitig im Arm, Frau Maier hätte schon mit neuem Mut, und von meinem Applaus begleitet, begonnen die Trümmer beiseite zu fegen.

Mein Auto würde abgeschleppt, man beruhigt mich, das sei natürlich kostenfrei, denn: „Unser Staat greift denen unter die Arme, die wirtschaftlich in Not geraten.“ Schon am nächsten Morgen hätte man mir ein neues Auto hingestellt, damit ich schnell wieder auf die Beine komme.

Im Radio höre ich, dass man, um aus der Krise zu kommen, die Leistungsträger unterstützen müsse, unnötige Bürokratie solle unbedingt abgebaut werden.

Richtig so! Das mit dem TÜV war schon immer quatsch.

Boz Digital Labs Model L Piano FREE Kontakt [FREE] 0 (0)

Boz Digital Labs has released a free piano Kontakt instrument featuring samples captured from a 1926 Steinway Model L Grand Piano.

The freebie appeared a few days ago on Boz Digital Lab’s Facebook page as a Christmas gift for all their followers.

Christmas freebie? A cry for attention? Call it whatever you want.

I created this very VERY basic Kontakt library of my piano. This was a first test because I just wanted to dip my toes in the Kontakt waters, and I had a 1926 Steinway Model L in my living room, so I figured, why not? I put up some mics, collected some samples, and dropped them into Kontakt. This was the result. You are welcome to have it for free.

Here is a demo track provided by Boz Digital Labs to make yourself an idea about the sound:

The author says this is a basic virtual piano instrument with 2 dynamic layers. Every tritone was sampled, also it doesn’t contain release and pedal down samples.

You will need Native Instruments Kontakt 6 to run this library. The free Kontakt Player isn’t supported, but if you’re specifically looking for a free piano that works within the Kontakt Player version, a few days ago we wrote about Hammersmith, a fantastic freebie by Soniccouture.

Tiny F (V0010) is a stripped-down version of Classic F. Tiny F uses about 10% of the CPU of Classic F, and it has ZERO software latency so has as fast a response as your hardware will allow. To achieve these goals, the tonestack is an approximation of the one in Classic F, the cabs are a set of filters rather than IRs, and the amp is single-channel, from either Left or Right input.

This amp does have the same improved distortion modelling as the most recent Classic Thirty, with a number of user-adjustable parameters for each tube stage. It has a two-stage preamp but can produce quite a bit of distortion if desired.

Tiny F includes both guitar and bass guitar amp sim capability. (For bass, be sure to reset the Low Cab Freq to something like 35 Hz!).

The GUI is resizable: Tiny, Small, Medium, Normal, Large, and Giant.

No stomps or rack effects are included at this time.

“nanoog” is a virtual analog synthesizer miniaturized with simpler operability while imagining the sound color and design of the analog synth’s famous machine, minimoog.
Beginning with version3, we have newly prepared 64bit VST version and MacOS Audio Units version.
Each parameter of nanoog includes a setting reminiscent of minimoog and a module name.
There is one main oscillator, one sub oscillator is arranged in parallel, the waveform selection is common, but the relationship between main and sub with frequency of ±1octave can be changed. Also, since the noise generator is mounted independently of the oscillator, white / pink noise can be selected.
The filter is a specific type to the moog synthesizer, enabling the output of warm sound The envelope generator has the same attenuation and release as the ADS method, and it is designed to select the presence or absence of release by switching the switch

Boing Boing makes my old tube amp when I move it or when I wildly unplug my jack! Well now, you just have to move your favorite DAW to hear the evil melody of the wiggling spring. It’s vintage and It’s very warm. All the sounds come from impulse responses grappled on the web. They’ve been cleaned up and I’ve been working on a convolution reverb algorithm optimized with small onions (french expression to said fine tuning).

Features:

  • 38 spring reverbs impulse responses selected and cleaned.
  • 3 levels of complexity (low and mid limit the audio bandwidth).
  • Compatible 44100Hz, 48000Hz, 88200Hz, 96000Hz, 176400Hz and 192000Hz. Plugins tested under Logic and Reaper.
  • An optimized convolution engine that can go up to 4 seconds.
  • A tone to adjust the brightness of the reverb.
  • A tunable impulse response size (which also plays on the complexity) and a dry / wet mix to be able to go to extreme settings.
